Chinese medicine has a long history for millennia, and it keeps up with the changes with time. Chinese medicine not only affects medical health, but also the food, clothing, living, and behaviour of Taiwanese people and thus evolves into the culture. A culture that presents different perspectives of Taiwan. The theme of the exhibition is “KAMPO”, which reflects the details and habits of life from the way of Chinese medicine practitioners. In the eyes of Chinese medicine, everything on the earth could be a medicine. In the exhibition, you can see the most original appearance of Chinese herbal medicines and meet yourself with the spirit.

This exhibition invites Japanese architect Kazuya Katagiri to deconstruct traditional Chinese herbal medicines, present the traditional Chinese medicine with space aesthetics, shape the world view of Kampo and experience the new and old Chinese medicines.

The cross over cooperation between Chinese medicine and art, Essentia designed the “a spoonful of moon” gifts for international galleries operators, artists and collectors. The kampo drinks are presented in a poetic form. Put the spoon in hot water and gently stirred, then can enjoy it. The beauty not only is seen but also felt by the heart and soul.

Essentia participated in Art Taipei this year. For more than 40 years, Essentia has collected wonderful moments for each family just like an art gallery. ART TAIPEI has hosted 25 years of sharing art, from treatment and health care, transcending the frame of Chinese medicine, cross-border art and deep-rooted daily medicine.A famous doctor from Tang dynasty Sun Simiao said, “medication must rely on land”, taken from the land; Paul Cézanne said “seeking harmony in various relationships”. In life and life, art and Chinese medicine are guiding people’s thoughts and collecting life at all times. Although ART TAIPEI ended perfectly at the end of October 2018, Essentia’s installation continues to be exhibited at the clinic. All are welcome to come to the clinic and have a cup of herbal tea.

Human beings shall adapt to nature while we constantly find ways to survive in the ever-changing world. Technological advancements nowadays silently diminish our ability to adapt to the natural world, and we will get sick easily when we encounter a change. Both Chinese medicine and yoga emphasise the connection between human and nature, living along with the rhythms of the world, working with the four seasons, maintaining the dynamic balance between body and mind, and improving self-healing ability through introspection. Essentia cooperated with Pure Yoga for two weeks and introduced a series of themed course. During the event, Essentia provided Liang Qin – Roasted Barley With Cassia Seed, which sharpens the eyes, removes dampness and oedema.烏梅茶 is sour based tea, which nourishes the liver, and reduces fatigue. Let Chinese medicine warm the body inside and out, experience the fascinating collaboration of Chinese medicine and yoga for the winter.

TIHTC International Medical Group visited Essentia. This seminar was arranged by Taipei Hospital, Ministry of Health and Welfare. In this seminar, Dr. Chiang shared his experiences to doctors from Philippines, India, Vietnam, Mongolia,Malaysia, and the States. The theme included the clinical cases and the experience in the modernization of Chinese medicine clinics, and the cross over of traditional medical practices with art and humanities.

Every herb is created from Nature, and meticulously stored in the cabinets. Essentia is having an exhibition at BELLAVITA over the next 3 weeks. The Japanese architect uses the alive herbal plant as the exhibition starting point. The herbs must then be processed according to its characteristic properties for medicinal uses. Just like herbs, we as human live between the sky, earth and ruled by four seasons.
